Why Perimeter Security Matters

In an era where digital threats dominate headlines, it’s easy to overlook the physical vulnerabilities that still pose serious risks to data centers. Whether it’s a targeted intrusion, a vehicle-borne threat, or an unauthorized visitor slipping past a weak access point, physical breaches can be just as catastrophic as cyberattacks.

That’s why top-tier data facilities implement layered physical security strategies, starting with the perimeter. A professionally designed fencing system doesn’t just mark property lines; it deters, delays, and defends against real-world threats before they reach your building. It’s the first step in a zero-trust, full-spectrum security plan, and one you can’t afford to compromise.

Why Choose Hurricane Fence for Data Center Security

When it comes to protecting data, the margin for error is zero. At Hurricane Fence Company, we bring decades of specialized expertise to the complex demands of physical security for mission-critical facilities. From national data hubs to regional colocation sites, our team understands the layered planning, compliance needs, and operational precision these projects require.

Data Center Fencing — Common Questions

What fencing solutions do you offer for data centers?

We offer a full suite of perimeter solutions engineered for data centers and colocation facilities: chain link, ornamental steel, welded wire, ASTM crash-rated barriers, and gates with gate operators and access control. We also build fully custom systems, including hybrid fence lines, security cages, and reinforced interior zones, that often work together to create layered, fortified perimeters.

What crash ratings do your barriers carry?

We install ASTM crash-rated systems in M30, M40, and M50 ratings, certified to withstand vehicular impacts at designated speeds and weights. These include crash-rated swing gates, cantilever gates, wedge barriers, and bollards. For Tier III and IV data centers and other critical infrastructure, crash-rated barriers help stop vehicle-based threats before they reach operational zones.

Which compliance frameworks does your fencing support?

Our systems are designed to support physical-security requirements across NIST SP 800-53 and FISMA, SOC 2 and ISO/IEC 27001, and HIPAA safeguards, along with ASTM crash ratings, ADA, and International Building Code standards. We help you design and install fencing that actively supports compliance from day one.

What access control options can you integrate?

Our gate systems support cantilever, swing, and vertical pivot gates for vehicles, plus turnstiles and pedestrian gates for staff and vendors. We integrate keycard, RFID, and biometric readers, vehicle detection loops and barrier arms, and emergency responder access such as Click2Enter and Knox Box, with centralized integration into surveillance and building management platforms.
