General Laborer
Portsmouth, VA
Support experienced installation crews on residential and commercial fence projects across the Portsmouth and Hampton Roads area. A great entry point into the fencing trade with opportunities for advancement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist Fence Erectors with installation of chain link, wood, vinyl, aluminum, and ornamental fencing
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment to job sites
- Dig post holes using manual and powered equipment
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work site
- Operate basic hand and power tools under supervision
- Follow all OSHA safety guidelines and company protocols
QUALIFICATIONS
- No prior fencing experience required — we’ll train you
- Ability to perform physical labor outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs regularly

As a Fence Erector, you’ll be a key member of our installation crews — bringing craftsmanship and precision to residential and commercial fencing projects throughout the Richmond and Ashland area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Install a variety of fence types: chain link, wood, vinyl, aluminum, ornamental, and composite
- Read and interpret job site plans, work orders, and layout diagrams
- Set posts, stretch fabric, hang gates, and apply hardware per specifications
- Operate power tools, post drivers, and light equipment safely
- Ensure all installations meet quality standards and customer expectations
- Mentor and assist General Laborers on the crew
QUALIFICATIONS
- 1–3 years of fence installation or related construction experience
- Familiarity with multiple fence types and installation techniques
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain conditions

Foreman

The Foreman leads a crew of fence installers on commercial and residential projects, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and to Hurricane Fence’s quality standards. A leadership role for an experienced installer ready to take the next step.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and supervise a crew of 2–5 Fence Erectors and General Laborers
- Review daily work orders, job plans, and site layouts before mobilizing crews
- Communicate with project managers regarding job progress, material needs, and timelines
- Enforce safety protocols and OSHA compliance on all job sites
- Conduct quality control inspections throughout and at completion of each project
- Resolve on-site issues and adapt to field conditions as needed
- Train and mentor crew members to develop their skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- 3–5 years of fencing or construction field experience
- Prior supervisory or crew lead experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read plans, interpret specifications, and estimate daily production
- Strong communication skills with crews, managers, and clients
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License with a clean driving record; CDL a plus
- Must pass a background check

Plans Specialist

A detail-oriented office/field hybrid role responsible for reviewing and interpreting project blueprints, supporting accurate estimates, and ensuring field crews have clear documentation before each job.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and supervise a crew of 2–5 Fence Review and interpret construction plans, blueprints, and project specifications for fencing scopes
- Perform material take-offs and assist the estimating team with quantity calculations
- Prepare and distribute clear, accurate job packages for field crews
- Coordinate between project managers, estimators, and Foremen to clarify plan details
- Maintain organized digital and physical project documentation
- Assist with responding to RFIs (Requests for Information) from clients or government agencies
- Track plan revisions and communicate updates to relevant team members
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications (required)
- Background in fencing, construction, or a related trade preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); Bluebeam or AutoCAD a plus
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
